[ATR121-AD] Error E-5 on display

i have this error on display on power up , the T/C is ok (type K)..but i am usinga 10 meter compensating cable.. any ideas anyone??

What controller do you use?
Check the polarity of the thermocouple and the connections to the controllers. If the error doesn't disappear try to short-circuit the thermocouple input: you should see a temperature around 20°C.

its a ATR121-AD controller..
first time we have used these..if i short the input its ok. any more ideas i can try?

It seems the thermocouple is badly connected or broken. Try to change it.
