I have a ATR444-14ABC-T controller with RS485

This controller will be deployed to control a valve in plant with a lengthy start up time. I need the controller to NOT control during the start up, but I do need the control to continue to monitor the 4-20 input and activate the alarms if the alarm thresholds are reached.

My plan is to set the following parameters to achieve this:

Q1 = c.VAL
DI1 = st./st.

My question is: what is the behaviour of the controller during the "stop" phase? What is the output of Q1 (terminals 6-4 & 6-5)? Will the alarms still be activated? What will be the display?

Note that if the plant should stop (either intentionally or due to fault), DI1 will be deactivated and the controller must revert to "stop" mode

In stop mode, the Q1 output will be in the "open" state of the valve at terminals 6-4 of the controller. The alarms will still function as usual and can be configured via the "Alarm 1/2/3/4/5/6 state stop" parameters to customize their behavior during stop mode.


DI1 = st./st.
With this function digital input 1 is activated by closing terminals 19 and 23. Each time these are closed, the controller will switch from "start" to "stop" mode. On the display, you will see the "stop" state indicated.

I suggest you set Par. 275 to "RuN" (controller in START with D.I. active, controller in STOP with D.I. disabled)


In addition, I suggest setting the valve time in Par. 50, which can be found on the nameplate. This will ensure proper control and synchronization based on the valve's specific characteristics.
