ATR244, 2AI, 2AO, input , output isolation

Post by mariusremus »

Good morning,

We , at University Oradea, have an ATR244 with supply voltage 24V AC/DC, with 2 AI and 2 AO.

I want to use it for measuring 2 temperatures with thermocouples of type K, via the 2 analog inputs, and then transmit the temperature values via the analog outputs (0...10V) to a Data Aquisition System.

One measuring point (K thermocouple) is at the GND potential( PE, protective earth), but with the second thermocouple i want to measure the temperature of a conductor which carries an AC current, so the thermocouple has a live , floating, potential (the AC voltage of that conductor)

Are the 2 AI ISOLATED from each other or not?
Are the 2 AI ISOLATED from the power supply (24VAC/DC) other or not?
Are the 2 AO ISOLATED from each other or not?
Are the 2 AO ISOLATED from the 2 AI or not ?

And finally can make these measurements how i intended or not?

Thank you for your time,

Best regards
Remus

Hi Remus,
I'll answer to your questions below:

1.The Analog inputs are isolated from each other.
2.The Analog inputs are isolated from the ATR244 power supply.
3.The Analog ouputs are isolated from each other.
4.The Analog Inputs are isolated from the Analog Output.

The Analog Input 1 is not isolated from the Digital Input (same GND), so I think it is better if the "not isolated termocouple" will be connect to the Analog Input 2.

Best regards.
